Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development

The DfE says:

‘All National Curriculum subjects provide opportunities to promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development.

Explicit opportunities to promote pupils' development in these areas are provided in religious education and the non-statutory framework for personal, social and health education (PSHE) and citizenship.’

At Georgian Gardens we take any opportunity to develop our children’s understanding of SMSC development and how it enhances their life.

One way we ensure this is through regular assemblies, many of which fit with the weekly themes as shown in the following table. Festivals and special events are celebrated and commemorated as a whole school in the way most appropriate.
